Ignition 8.3 – Edge Tags Visible in Central Gateway but Not Historizing to PostgreSQL

Hi Experts,

I’m using Ignition 8.3 with the following setup:

  • Edge Gateway collecting PLC data

  • Central Gateway with PostgreSQL as the historian (Postgres_Historian)

  • Gateways are connected through a trusted Gateway Network

The Edge tags are visible in the Central Gateway Designer, but when I enable history for them, I can’t select the Postgres_Historian storage provider.

Tags created locally in the Central Gateway historize fine, but Edge tags do not store history.

This setup worked perfectly in Ignition 8.1, so I believe I may be missing some configuration in 8.3.

Any guidance on what changed or needs to be adjusted in 8.3 to historize Edge tags would be appreciated.

Hi!

I have not tried 8.3 yet, but have you checked your settings on both side: config > security > service security > default

And

On the edge gateway > config > data sync > settings

Is the Remote History Provider name correct and Remote History Sync Enabled (it is false by default)?

Under data sync > overview you should see that the sync counter is increasing (when you refresh).
