Ignition Alarm Journal Query causing catastrophic failure

Hi all,

What exactly is system.alarm.queryJournal doing in the background? This function is repeatedly crashing our gateway and projects, leading us to be unable to re-open a project (due to de-serialization issues according to the wrapper) until we restart the Ignition Gateway service.

Did something change in the logic of this function? We ran it on the script console for about 3 days’ time and then tried to get data out of the resulting object with getDatset() and…it crashed the script console then my designer, and then nobody else was able to open a new designer.

Were you on a snapshot version or 8.0.4 RC, by chance? There was a regression introduced within the last month that caused (serious) problems with certain queries, notably the alarm journal and audit log. 8.0.4 final and the latest 8.0.5 snapshots shouldn’t have the same issue.

Hi Paul,

We were on an 8.0.4. nightly, and we haven’t upgraded to an RC yet. Good to know! Is 8.0.4. final out?

Should be out very soon. I won’t make any promises due to ICC, but very soon.
