Ignition App not connecting to Gateway

I am having trouble with the Perspective App connecting to the gateway from public side of router

I can connect using the App within my local network to the gateway, no problem.

When I enter the public IP address and port 8088 no success. My suspicion is Port forwarding. My router uses port triggering and what confuses me is what port to use to trigger the external port 8088 ?
What outbound port does Ignition gateway open when operating that can be used to trigger the opening of 8088 inbound on my router?

This may not be my problem but it's my next step to eliminate issues

Any help would be appreciated

PS, the same app is connecting and working OK with a separate gateway installation so I know that the app set-up is ok

You would define this yourself in the port forward rule.

Show your router port forwarding rule (but hide your Internet IP address).

That is generally not acceptable for publicly-accessible websites, which is how Perspective needs to operate. The pinhole aka port forwarding rule needs to be open all the time, not via a trigger.

Thanks, that helped me dig deeper. I didn't realise my router had port triggering AND port forwarding option. My modem called it 'NAT Forwarding > Virtual Server'

Set a port forward on 8088 and all is good now

Thanks everyone
