Ignition barcode scanner input in browser using Zebra scanner

Hi,
I am having problems with the ignition barcode scanner input component when trying to scan a barcode in a web browser.

I am using a zebra bartec mc93 handheld scanner with android operating system and google chrome to launch the ignition app. I do not have a camera on this device, just a regular laser barcode scanner.
I am wondering why my ignition app (when in browser) does not read barcode when scanned. The barcode will scan without any problems when I launch the app via the ignition launcher.
However, I need it to work via chrome due to the handheld device being locked down in a production environment, and can't install the ignition launcher.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with the barcode scanner input not working correctly within a browser? When I scan into a text field it works perfectly. Is this the only work around? Or should the barcode scanner component work in browser?

The barcode scanner input component is an app-only feature, as it requires tight integration with the mobile OS. Your experience is not a bug.

If you can reconfigure your scanner as a keyboard wedge, you might have other options. Or get the OS unlocked so you can install the app. (The APK is available for side-loading from IA's supplemental downloads.)
