Hello, everyone! I run the social media for Inductive and one of the funny ideas we had for a potential social media post was an Ignition Bingo Card. We have a few ideas of what we could put on the card like “Contributed to the Ignition Exchange” or “Achieved 100% in Inductive University”, but I was hoping to get some really unique or funny ideas from all of you. All suggestions welcome!
"I got an Eeewww! from Phil"
"Open the wrong project."
Being told by @pturmel that your OS is inferior.
Necromanced a thread greater than 5 years old.
I debated making one of the squares something like “Obscure question answered by a Reddit thread from 6 years ago.”
"Post deleted by author"
- Nerd Sniped
- "I was right!" a.k.a post liked by Phil or an IA employee
Serious ones:
- Solved a Problem on the Forums
- Achieved Core/Gold Certs
- Attended ICC
- Used MQTT Modules
Fun ones:
- Posted code/errors without using preformatted text
- Used tag mapping with the Modbus driver and told it was wrong
- Tried using the forums as official support
Edit: Couple more fun ones:
- Own a pair of Ignition socks
- Collected pins at ICC
- Has flamed a zero effort AI slop-post.
- Caused a memory leak with poor jython code.
Used Ignition on a home project
Met Ignition forum friends in real life
Met an IA developer in real life
Locked main thread with sleep command
Built an Ignition module
PS
I like the Ignition socks one. I wore 2 pairs of them yesterday as I shoveled out from that snowstorm.
Spotting forum users on other websites
- Discovered how amazing Docker is
- Opens the inductive automation forum as first browser tab
- Entire alarm aggregation system that was Sherlocked by version 8.3
- Had to change a bunch of tags after creating tag bindings
- Multiple day call with support
- Replaced Wonderware/FTView/etc with Ignition
- Set up Redundancy
- Used Ignition Cloud (or Ignition Standard in the Cloud)
- Locked yourself out of a gateway and had to do a password reset
- Bought a limited client license to quickly upgrade to unlimited clients because everyone wants access (and to realize the advice of your integrator to buy unlimited up front was the right call)
- Used the built-in OPC-UA server for external connectivity (or to replace Kepware)
- Built an unconventional project (game, no devices/DB access only, etc) - Bonus if you were paid to build it
Ask for help with code, don’t post the code
Gateway/Vision scoping issue
Loops for individual tag reads
- Changed all custom properties from public to private in Perspective (because Phil said so)
- Moved a tag value change event to a gateway tag event script
- Used project inheritance
- Moved magic push button logic into a project script
- Crashed the Designer by printing too much in the script console.
I wanna play too!
- Pointed at a screen while watching a video about manufacturing or infrastructure and shouted “Ignition!”
- Have been in a facility other than your own which uses Ignition.
- Have a collection of ICC lanyards or name tags.
- Have been to the Inductive Automation office.
- Used FactorySQL in the past.
- Upgraded a facility from 7.9 to 8.0 to 8.1 to 8.3.
Wished you had saved that one-off script you wrote in the console..
- Replaced Kepware with Ignition
- Had to kill the Designer to stop an endless loop
- Build functionality against management directive because it was the right thing to do
- Created a race condition by having two servers running scripts against the same tag
- Just Don’t (got a stop directive from Phil)
