I have a customer who hates having computers on the factory floor (don’t necessarily blame him). We proposed a single work cell system with Ignition Edge Vision (probably) HMI. Typically we are buying Advantech UNO PCs and running edge panel on windows.
The project needs rudimentary data logging (csv or similar). Could probably use the built in edge historian but probably need longer storage than allowed.
Should I be running this on Linux to give it more of an embedded experience (satisfy customers concerns about Windows updates etc.). I’ve never actually deployed on Linux. Assume I’m a reasonably competent programmer (no comments plz:)), pretty easy to set up and deploy? Are there any off the shelf PCs with Ignotion Edge pre-installed on Linux? I know I’ve seen some on the market, but hoping for some positive recommendations.
Thanks!
