Ignition Edge OPC UA Crashing on Trial Reset

Hey guys!
Currently using a trial version Ignition Edge on a Groov EPIC-LC2 as a store-and-forward to a central full Ignition instance (also a trial version).

After about a month of use, an occasional trial reset of Edge would cause the OPC UA server to fault, providing the following error message:
"Cannot browse connection "Ignition OPC UA Server" when connection state is CLOSED."

The only known fix is to reset the hardware running the OPC UA server.

The time gaps between faults has decreased with time, with now a full reset being required for every 2hr trial reset of Edge!

My only guess would be that Edge is not releasing memory somewhere in the process? Or perhaps it is more likely to be a hardware issue on our end?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It is trial mode. Months of uptime is not really expected. Consider rebooting your Edge trial every day at a particular time, then rebooting the central Ignition shortly after.

If you need a true month of uninterrupted testing to convince your management to buy real licenses, talk to IA sales about expiring licenses.

Hey @pturmel, thanks for the quick response!

Your reboot suggestion did not change things unfortunately.

However, on the advice of the guys over at opto, restarting the Data Service on the EPIC-LC2 seemed to do the trick.

That being said you're absolutely right, time for a license!
Thanks again,
Tal.

I think there is/was a known issue where restarting the trial on Edge (and only Edge, not Standard Ignition) also restarts the OPC UA module and this can lead to a crash eventually.
