Ignition Edge Perspective Not Launching

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a system with Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installed, and I’ve set up Ignition Edge with the Visualization module using Perspective.

When I launch ./PerspectiveWorkstation.sh, the application starts and shows a popup. After clicking “Add Application”, I’m prompted to select a gateway. However, once I proceed, I see the message:

“No Launch-able Perspective Projects”

I’m not sure what might be causing this issue. Has anyone encountered this before or can suggest what I might be missing in the setup?

If I open the Designer Launcher, then it is working with Vision.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you have a project that has Perspective views in it?

I am using Ignition Edge where I couldn’t create a new project and delete the default existing project. I could see one Edge project. When I use Design Launcher, I could open and see the Vision Windows.

Vision windows cannot be opened by Perspective. You need Perspective views and pages. What prompted you to select Perspective for your Panel when the project has Vision windows?

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, that makes sense regarding Vision vs Perspective.

In my case, I’m using Ignition Edge and it seems like the default project that comes with it is a Vision-based project. I’m unable to open it in Perspective Workstation, and I understand now why that’s happening.

However, I’m running into another issue:

  • I’m not able to delete the default project

  • I also don’t see an option to create a new Perspective project

I did change the Ignition Edge settings to use Perspective, but it doesn’t seem to create or expose a Perspective project automatically.

Am I missing a step to create a new Perspective project in Ignition Edge? Or is there a limitation with Edge where the default Vision project cannot be modified or replaced?

Any guidance on how to properly set up a Perspective project in this case would be really helpful.

Thanks again!

Check your Visualization Mode.

But yeah, you can only have one Edge project. And I believe it comes already created.

It is set to Perspective only.

Then you should have your one and only Perspective project named Edge.

Yes, I have

Just create Perspective views and page definitions in that project. Delete the Vision resources. (On a standard gateway, a project can have both types.) Being launchable for Perspective is simply having Perspective resources to launch.
