First I want to say Great Work, Guys. Ignition loks great and I look forward to using in the future.

I do have an initial question. Is it mandatory to have a database installed and connected? Is it possible to just have the OPC Server and an FPMI client?

No, you certainly don't have to have a database installed. Your Ignition Vision clients can just use OPC data directly through the new internal SQLTags provider - no database required.

In fact, the free “Panel Edition” is designed around the no-database concept. Like Carl said, just use SQLTags to interact with your PLC(s) directly!
