Ignition to control Ethercat slave IO module

I want to read/write 300+ field IO Digital &Analog signals directly from ignition, cycle time < 500ms, I think Ethercat or Modbus TCP are the way to go.
I have tried Modbus TCP, I can communicate but the speed is a problem.

Just wondering whether ignition is capable to directly read/write a generic branded Ethercat protocol compliant IO module? Does ignition have a Ethercat master module?

Or take a step back, are we able to write a python script to directly control the Ethercat IO module?

Ignition has nothing for Ethercat support.
