Igntion Edge Error - Gateway Exception

Hello,

I am working with Ignition Edge on an Opto22 and occasionally I will get an error message on the Designer saying the following

java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException:

com.inductiveautomation.ignition.client.gateway_interface.GatewayException: name-of-gateway

It also affects the tag browser, by just showing Error on all the tags. What is this issue and is there a way to correct it? I'm assuming it due to an ethernet communication issue, but I don't know why since the edge gateway is running on the same hardware as the plc.

Likely a comms issue between your designer and your Opto22, rather than Edge to PLC error. How is your designer connecting to the Opto, over a VPN?

Can you find where you are using this as the host in any settings you may have changed? It seems to be angry about it since it says UnknownHostException

From my experience using the Edge Gateway on an Opto22 it's pretty straight forward.

Depending on the situation you may want to try taking a backup of your gateway, restoring the edge instance to some defaults and seeing if the problem persists. Obviously if this is in a production system that isn't as feasible.
