Just curious to know what the IU video based learning platform is built on and how that’s implemented? Are all those videos stored in the cloud and linked to the website? What video editing software is being used to create them? This is an amazing platform and I’m interested in knowing how it was developed.
Thanks,
Jeff
I know the videos are hosted on Vimeo.
Not sure about the other questions, I’ll see if I can find the right person to ask.
Looking a Vimeo they seem to have all the tools right on the platform itself. Has this been a great marketing and engagement tool for Inductive?
Mostly custom stuff.
Kevin is right in that Vimeo is where the videos are hosted. As for linking a page to a video, we have a custom Content Management System (made in Ignition as a matter of fact) that we use to determine content on IU: video names, URLs, vimeo IDs, structure within a course, etc. This CMS is also ultimately responsible for the data behind the challenges.
Regarding video editing, we use Adobe Premiere. The opening animation is an Adobe After Effects animation with some parameters configured, which is what lets us use the same animation with different text for the topic, lesson, and course names.

To be honest, we don't really utilize a lot of Vimeo's features, mostly since we have our own marketing tools. It's mostly just the place where we host the videos and add captions.

Thanks for the previous replies. Another question I had is has there been concern about providing access to so much information on the site (Training videos, modules, etc.) that competition my try to extract information?
(full transparency, I work at a small software company too where we are trying to implement IA’s CMS and Module showcase model and we worry about this).
Should we be concerned or is that just paranoia? Thanks.
Extract what information? And do what with it?
(obviously I’m leaning towards “just paranoia”)

Our platform is open just like yours (and built on Java ironically) and for our instrument drivers we separate methods into their own individual programs which can be opened in any text editor. However, we don’t release the C# source so nothing is really exposed. Because of this openness, customers and integrators can create their own programs with any import and include they want. I don’t know, perhaps you’re right Kevin. I’ve been touting your modularity and University very hard at them and they see the benefits.
