Infeed counts from pounds of product

I thought it would be best to count the pounds of the material at the infeed to the production line.
Calculate the weight of a single product per active sku.
Then divide the pounds to the nearest whole product to get a good infeed count.

Is there a better way to get good infeed counts when making products from a stream of raw materials?

Sounds like more of a calculation that you might want the PLC to handle in realtime.
