I have installed Ignition beta 8.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition. It installed successfully but I am not able to launch Gateway either by web page or launch utility.
You can try with “C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition\launch-gcu.bat”
You can use the gwcmd in the command line. We are going to be moving more towards using the command line to run commands on the gateway .I am attaching a link with various commands that you can use.

If you can’t get to the webpage (http://localhost:8088 by default), it probably means Ignition isn’t running. Check Services. If the Ignition Gateway service is not running, check the wrapper.log file in program files/ia/ignition/logs to see what errors it has when trying to start up, and see if that gives any indication of what the issue might be.
