Instancing gateways with Edge Edition

I must beg the advice of the Wizards of Folsom.

Now beginning what is only my fourth ever Ignition build, and my first where I am leveraging existing assets like UDT and parameterised Perspective views from my previous build.

There's a good amount of advice on here and elsewhere about instancing projects based on previous work, but most relates to the Standard Edition. I'm working with Edge Edition (8.1), which of course lacks the project management and inheritance features.

So, could I please ask for some general advice and traps for young players in this Edge context? Straight away ran into the System Name change problem, for example. Is there a better way to instance a new Edge project than just restoring a whole-gateway backup and dealing with the potential broken links? Or am I better off (from a workload perspective) with a fresh install, re-configuration, and exporting and importing assets?

Sounds like 8.3 will make a lot of these tasks simpler. In the meantime any advice is much appreciated!

The enterprise management module can "collapse" a project in Standard Ignition to a single combined project for Edge. I'd do that.

Thanks Phil, I'll give it a go from our shiny new cloud server. Is that using the "Send Project" task?
