There is not Windows XP operating system in the supported operating system according to this website.

But I see some topic that someone is using XP. So my question: Is Ignition SCADA software supported Windows XP OS? Was tested?

XP is no longer supported. It’s because Oracle dropped XP support with Java 8, which is required for Ignition 7.7. Some other thoughts, since I don’t know what your current infrastructure is:

  1. It doesn’t mean you can’t get it to work: The reason Java 8 isn’t XP friendly is because of the installer. There are ways to make Java 8 work in XP, but it may be more trouble than it’s worth. If you are really looking to save some money, consider converting an XP box to Linux to run the gateway.

  2. Clients can still be XP: These requirements and recommendations really are for the gateway. I still have XP clients running Java 6.

  3. Okay, I don’t have a third one, but all good lists have three points.

Conclusion: XP for a gateway, not good. XP for clients, still OK.

JordanCClark’s post is accurate.

If you absolutely must go along with XP a bit longer, I’d point out that Ignition 7.5 is a LTS version, and will be supported through 2017 for critical fixes, and runs on Java 6. Ignition 7.6 isn’t LTS, but it also only requires Java 6. Both version are available in the archived downloads section.
