Is there a way to run scripting functions

in the designer console on the gateway? I'm trying to do some tests on script functions but the script console runs on my local system and not the gateway.Thx, Jake

No, but there might be an alternative tool available in 8.3 to do this directly.
In the meantime, you can add an arbitrary script to a Perspective button, or a tag event script, or a gateway message handler, and invoke it from the designer.
