Is this HMI just a lost cause for running Edge with many tags?

I have an Advantech TPC-125H running an Edge project in a production environment. While meeting the bare minimum requirements, it definitely is sluggish and laggy. Can this be improved by some better memory optimization or should I just push for a better HMI? Things work but using it is just unpleasant. There has to be something better in this form factor for our project.

Atom E3845 (1.9ghz, 4 cores, 4 threads)

5.16GB working RAM

Are you running windows?

That CPU gets 1071 pass marks (low). For Windows and Perspective, I don't recommended going below 3000ish (usually not the Atom range, moving into at least the i3 range), although that's a very rough guide.

Hi @Justin_Elliott
we are using a Siemens Panel pc with that configuration

And it's working quite well.
OS is a debian lite with a simple webbrowser in kiosk

Of course it depends on the number of tags and how heavy are those perspective page.

regards

Yes, running windows. 8GB system RAM with windows taking up about 2.6gb. SSD SATA drive. Ignition Edge in a peer to peer setup with other HMI's running the same project.

Even that Atom blows this one apart. Released 13 years ago!

Yeah dump windows, you’ll get back a ton of resources on something that small.

I think this is a really good recommendation. Plenty of choices that will exceed this at a cost effective price point.

CPU benchmark is 3724. Meets the Minchin spec.
