OK, so how did I do that, the text has gone, and more importantly how do I put it back?

I’ve seen similar corruption (not quite identical) when manipulating the built-in popup window for a chart. It’s really a shared object across all JFreeCharts, IIRC: messing it up in one place will scramble it everywhere.

Thanks Phil, that put me on the right track.

It seems that the font size in the pop-up menu is linked to the font size of the vision menu set in Properties - Client - User Interface “Menu Font” which had been set to zero.
