Java Auto Updater

Do I want to allow Java Auto Updater to run? I have a long running fear of updating software on a SCADA computer.

Allowing the auto-updater to run shouldn’t create a problem, but it has caused a few hangups in the past. Most people turn it off for the production machine that runs the Gateway, and then update infrequently when their line is down. This way it is an extra level of safeguard against errors creeping in through Java. While we cannot prevent all problems in Java, we will get any errors fixed as soon as possible when they do creep in.

If you are talking about on the clients, then there is even less reason to turn it off as issues there won’t effect other computers.

So I guess the short answer is: It can’t hurt.

Thanks
