Needing some help here. I have Ignition installed on a Ubuntu 20.04 machine. I downloaded and extracted the perspective workstation folder into my /usr/share/applications directory and the program shows up on my desktop just without and icon and does not launch when prompted. I am wondering if I am missing something or if the install has changed since the last manual update?
Never mind. Just a simple permissions issue.
Mind if I ask what the permission error was? I'm having the same issue
I believe it was that after I moved the Workstation folders over into my applications directory I did not have the correct read, write, or execute permissions assigned to my directory and/or file. Below is what I believe I set the perspective workstation directory to as far as permissions.
Disclaimer: This was a dev machine, not production so just keep that in mind when it comes to company policies and what you are modifying.
sudo chmod 777 /usr/share/applications/perspectiveworkstation
Also, this is only my best guess as I can't remember exactly the folder or file I changed permissions on. I am sure there are other way more Linux qualified people(@pturmel) that have a better idea on exactly what permission would need set and on what.
