Localhost:8088 is not working

This is a new install. We replaced the HMI and I was told to follow offline Activation instructions since our machine is not on the network but I am not able to go past localhost:8088 error.

Is this a new install, or is this something that normally works, but for some reason isn't at the moment?

Good morning Justin, do you know a way to resolve the Localhost:8088 issue ?

Unfortunately there isn't enough information to debug yet. if its urgent I would recommend contacting support.

Otherwise some initial things to check without knowing details.

  1. Make sure the Ignition Service is running
  2. Make sure if you are using localhost you are trying to access it using a browser on the Ignition gateway. Otherwise swap 'localhost' for the IP address of the server.
  3. Make sure that a firewall isn't blocking that port

Thanks for quick reply. Couple of questions:
1- How do I make sure Ignition service is running?
2- how do I get access to Ignition Gateway?
3- Firewalls are not active, but is there a specific browser that Ignition works better with?
4- what is the IP address of the server? (Would that be an IP address of the laptop I am trying to run Ignition on OR the server on your side)?

Its sounding like you are just jumping into the world of Ignition. I am going to recommend contacting official support as they can probably work with you to get a remote session setup or provide more information. Most of the forums are other Ignition users, not IA employees and while the forums are great, it is not the best option for debugging issues at this level. I would also recommend referencing some of the Inductive University videos to familiarize yourself with the platform and terms a bit more to aide in finding where things are setup.

  1. This is going to be dependent on operating system. For windows, you can do windows key + R to open a run window and type 'services.msc'. and find Ignition in the list. This will be on whatever computer is running Ignition
  2. Ignition gateway is running on whatever computer you installed Ignition software on.
  3. Any HTML5 browser should work. Chrome, firefox, edge all should be supported as well as others.
  4. this is completely dependent on your network and system architecture. If you are trying to setup a connection to an existing gateway, I recommend finding any documentation or people who have configured it previously to provide the specifics. Every system is different.

is the 127.0.0.1:8088 working.
in some case your IT can block the use of localhost on the computer.
