Login to Perspective using a MODBUS Card Reader

Hi all,

Pretty sure I know this answer but I would like to gather some people's experience regarding logging in to perspective using the "Badge" feature.

Does this feature only work with a USB card reader emulating key events and finishing with a carriage return ?

Can it work with a MODBUS card reader that is declared in the gateway, and once the badge is scanned, the string would be sent to the perspective login page ?

Or the only possibility is using a card reader directly plugged to the computer emulating key events?
What about smartphones & tablets ? Is there even a way to login using a badge ?

Thanks all

I don't think there is a way to do this with the MODBUS option you mentioned.

You can do this if you set the NFC reader to output key events like you would with a USB reader.

Which Perspective login page?

What you are asking would require, at a minimum, reliable identification of the machine a Perspective session is running on. And access to a IdP's page within that session. Both of which are currently impossible.

It would be possible with Vision if it auto-logged in, checked MAC ID (or other physical ID) in a startup event, then used a message handler to filter for the desired station and performed an switch user operation.

Perfect, both your answers confirm what I was thinking.
Even on the Vision part.

Thanks a lot both.
