MacOS Sequoia JXBrowser Designer Crash Issue

I haven't had a ton of time to test, but yesterday's macOS 15.0.1 appears to have fixed it for me. I can open Perspective pages in designer without immediately getting an error now.

Update 10-7-24 Tried again today and it's no longer working.

Still having the same issue running macOS 15.0.1

A fix will be available in 8.1.44, which should hopefully be released within the next few days, if not later today. Thanks for your patience.

To clarify, he means a nightly release containing the fix.

8.1.44 final release is expected ~2024-10-22.

Is the actual fix a part of the designer, and therefore if you have a new launcher able to look at older gateways that were affected?

Or is the issue something that will stay version locked to the gateway?

JXBrowser is part of the Designer, which is versioned in step with the Ignition Gateway you launch against. It is not part of the Designer Launcher, which is a separate application from anything else.

The Designer Launcher is truly just a launcher application. Whatever Gateway you point it at, it downloads the binaries from that Gateway, if necessary, and then launches a Designer of that version against that Gateway.

8.1.44-RC1 should have the fix for this.

Can confirm this works on 8.1.44-rc1 and Sequoia 15.0.1. Thank you!

Is there a chance this may get fixed by a future macOS Sequoia update? For instance 15.1? Has anybody tried with 15.1 since it got released as RC yesterday?

Ignition v8.1.44 stable was released today with the fix.

The release of 8.1.44 stable is great, but some of us don't have the option of upgrading their gateways

You have three options:

  • Upgrade your gateway,
  • Avoid upgrading your MacOS, or
  • use a VM.

IA has no magic wand. Making Sequoia support older designers would have to come from Apple.

Same here! You can use a VM. Working fine in my case.

option 4: Whisky (WINE)

font is kinda weird though, probably solvable.

option 5: linux webtop (docker)

can also run full windows and macos in docker
