Mettler Toledo SPE2003-C

Hi all,

Has anyone successfully communicated with a Mettler Toledo scale model SPE2003-C using Ignition?

I tried setting it up as a Modbus TCP device, but it doesn’t seem like I’m getting any meaningful tags from the device — such as the scale value or other relevant data points.

If anyone has experience with this setup or recommendations on how to properly configure it, I’d really appreciate your input.

The Modbus protocol doesn't have any notion of named tags or browsing.

You need to come to the party knowing what address tables and offsets the data you want lives at, and then create OPC tags in the Ignition Designer using the Modbus address described in the user manual: Modbus Addressing | Ignition User Manual

This device is Ethernet/IP or Profinet only at this stage from the docs online.
I would suggest the Automation Professionals Ethernet/IP driver would be able to get tags out of this device happily. You should have a chat to them. Eventually it looks like it will support MT-SICS, which wll give you other options.
