Is there anyway to implement multi-factor authentication in ignition 7.9? I’m having trouble finding any information on it.
No, there isn’t. In 8.0, you can use an identity provider that supports MFA, but only in Perspective. We have loose plans to extend support for the newer authentication system to Vision and the gateway itself, but there’s no firm timeline on that yet.
Any update here?
In 8.1, we rolled out IdP support to the Gateway Web Interface, Designer, and Vision Clients.
The internal IdP does not support MFA, though we have a feature ticket in our backlog to start researching and developing it.
So for now you’ll still have to use an external OIDC / SAML IdP which supports MFA to achieve MFA indirectly in Ignition.
Any update? This is an important security control that we will need to implement and having a native Inductive module would be the most reliable and efficient.
If im not mistaken you can set an internal IdP to require a badge scan and password input for authentication.
Thats as close to MFA as you're gonna get with an internal IdP.
