Multi installation

Hello,

Is it possible to have 7.6 and 7.7 installations of Ignition on the same physical machine and in different folders for development purpose or must I install virtual machines like VirtualBox ?

Thanks

It is possible but difficult to setup. It is easier to use virtual machines such as Virtual Box.

It is possible and quite easy if you don’t need both of them running at the same time (which seems to be the case)

You just have to stop the “Ignition Gateway” service, rename your current Ignition Directory and install your new version.

For exemple, if you have a 7.6 version installed and want to install a 7.7:

  • Stop the Ignition Gateway service
  • Rename your Igntion folder from “C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition” to “C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition_767” (for example)
  • Install your 7.7 version

From there, if you want to go back to your 7.6 version, just stop the service and rename folders according to your needs.

I was thinking both would be running at the same time, but I see that is not what you asked.

Thanks, I don’t need the 2 in the same times so I’m going to rename the install folder
