I have a situation where I have multiple "status" projects that display KPI for the some of the cells connected to the gateway. I would like run multiples of these status boards "Projects" on the one PC outputting them to different monitors connected to the machine. As apposed to a machine/license for every one. Is this possible?
Sure.
Vision Clients aren't what is licensed, the Gateway they are launched against is. You don't need to do this for licensing reasons.
(Vision can be sold with a license restriction on the number of Clients allowed, but it's not the same thing, and each Client instance would count whether it was on the same PC or a different PC)
Thanks for the reply Kevin, so in this case 1 PC would work but you would need multiple licenses?
If you open 2 separate vision clients on 2 separate monitors then yes you need a 2-client license.
Or an unlimited client license, which is the default.
Note that you may not need multiple client instances/projects at all, and can just use "secondary desktops", even if you do have a (rare) limited client count license.
This is a good approach if you can consolidate into a single project.
We do have a limited license, I keep purchasing more client seats, its eventually going to be an unlimited but for now.... I will work this solution. Much appreciated!!
IIRC, as soon as you hit five seats, you may as well have bought the unlimited.
We are at 4, BUT i was quoted 7k to "CONVERT" our license to unlimited, that i didn't understand. When we purchased the first "extra" seat I inquired if I could roll the value of the additional seats into the purchase of the unlimited. I was told at that time that once you reach 5, it is automatically an unlimited license. So, this time when I went to get the additional license I thought we would just get 2 and go unlimited but apparently I was lied to the first time or the second time because they quoted me 7k plus the two seats. Not sure!
Vision Unlimited is $7680 on the current price list. Vision limit=4 is $3772, and limit=5 is $4390. There is no option for any limit beyond 5.
I do not know how or if a limited license yields partial credit towards unlimited.
Perhaps you should double-check that your agent is dropping the limited license and replacing with unlimited. In an existing gateway. Anyways, not going to be solved here on the forum.
Understood, I will go back with that question. Thank You!
I always thought it was 10. The first seat, you pay a premium for at $1918. Each additional seat up to 5 is $618. 9*618 = 5562 + 1918 = 7480 and unlimited is as you say 7680.
