Looks like adding a module now requires a GW restart in 8.3?
Any module install/uninstall/update in 8.3 requires a restart.
One of the new things i'm noticing on Ignition 8.3 is that for every module install, uninstall, it's forcing a reboot of the entire gateway. I saw this behavior while importing the kafka module, and when trying to import an 8.1 module into the gateway (it was an expected fail lol). I can think of a few reasons why it's okay for it, but for deployment of 3rd party modules, it may be disruptive in a running system, even if the 3rd party module doesn't affect core functionalities (alarm, history, op…

I figured it was any module, just a little bummed this is the case. I seem to remember 8.1 does not require restart, I wonder if this will not be required one day for 8.3.
I don't think hot loading will ever be an option for 8.3. It was removed deliberately.
I’m still exploring the idea of decoupling the JavaScript dependencies from the modules, in order to allow updates to the Perspective client-side resources (i.e. updates to Chart.js or ApexCharts dependencies) without a complete gateway restart.
Automatic publishing has been enabled for the 8.3/main branch and module downloads are now available on GitHub.
