Hi, I'm new to the controls industry and just starting to learn how to use Ignition Designer and its related components. I'm also relatively new to Linux, which adds another layer of complexity.
I'm currently facing an issue where, whenever I click on any menu option whether it's File, Edit, or Project the toolbar redirects me to a screen selection prompt. I suspect the problem might be related either to the installation process or to the connection with the PLC.
That said, I can successfully ping the PLC's IP address, so I know the network connection is working. However, I'm unable to launch the Perspective Workstation at all, which makes me think the issue could stem from a faulty or incomplete download.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to trying different installation methods to get everything working properly.
PLC connections would have nothing to do with the designer operation. Next, I have never seen that screen sharing popup before from the designer, it looks like your OS is doing this not Ignition.
Here’s the strange part: the screen selection popup only appears when I’m running Ignition Designer and click on any of the menu options like File, Edit, or Project. It doesn’t happen with any other applications, which makes me think something may have been linked during installation that’s triggering this behavior.
It feels like the OS is responding to some event from Ignition Designer, but I’m not sure what would cause that. I’ll dig into my system settings and see if there’s anything tied to screen sharing or input capture that might be interfering.
