Need help with stopping Ignition Gateway

Hey guys!

So I’m extremely new to Ignition, and am currently going through the introductory course on the inductive university website. I have been practicing on my Company issued laptop (They’ve asked me to go through it and learn ignition), and obviously do not have admin access to the system. Therefore, when I try to close the gateway through the command ‘net stop ignition‘, or by changing directory to the ignition folder and then running the command ‘stop-ignition.bat‘, I get the error “Access is denied“. Similarly, when I go to services and try to stop the gateway from there, all the options are greyed out. My main reason for closing the gateway is that it hogs up almost all my laptop’s memory even when I’m not actively working on it and doing something else, and the ‘zulu Platform x64 Architecture’ task is always running. According to the forums here, closing the gateway is the way to end that process as well. So my question is, is there any other way for me to stop the gateway, or would I need to contact the company IT dept every time I need to close it? Also, is there a way to stop it from running on startup?

Thank you!

Hello,

You can stop the gateway using the stop-ignition.bat as administrator in the server you installed your ignition gateway. Dobleclick on the stop-ignition.bat file to stop and dobleclick on the start-ignition.bat to restart.

You must have server administrator priviliges to do this.
You may ask the server administrators to grant you access.

Cheers.

Ah thank you so much! I assumed that the IT admins will either be able to give me privileges to start/stop all the services, or none at all. Good to know that it can be for specific services as well.
