I work for a company that manufacturers industrial printers and need a simple HMI solution to link two printers together so that one HMI controls both systems. Its a simple big button HMI with each button representing customers product so when the button is pressed it sends a binary string to the printers to select the corresponding product. I know nothing about programming or PLC's but need a simple cost effective solution for the customer.

Welcome to the forum Andy. If you are entirely new to automation you may want to have an integrator do this work for you.

Whoever you get to do this is going to ask you the brand and model of the printers, what format the data is, how they're connected (Ethernet?), etc.
