OPC Connection faulted when adding a new opc connection

I have been getting a bad tag. i feel it has to do with my OPC Connection, so i am trying to add a new OPC Connection, but when i add the endpoint and click next ,nothing happens, it doesn't go to the next page. will appreciate any help.

What endpoint URL are you using? Can you provide a screenshot of where it gets stuck and upload your log files?

The screenshot, is the result i get when i try to add a tag. i believed it was as a result of my OPC Connection, so i went to add a new OPC Connection.

When i click next on this page, nothing happens, unless i change the port number to 62541. I hope have not created confusion trying to explain

Ignition's OPC UA server listens on 62541 by default, so I'm not sure there's really an issue.

any ideas on how i can troubleshoot why am getting a bad tag

Troubleshoot the tag using Tag Browser, not the Window Designer. But first get your OPC connections working.

You need to explain your setup.

  • Is the Siemens device a simulator or a real PLC?
  • What is its IP address?
  • How have you configured the device in Ignition?
  • What is the connection status?
