OPC Tags Bad_NotConnected using Studio 5000 Logix Emulate

I am trying to perform this exercise, but when I try it within ignition I get the message Bad_NotConnected.

I am using a Virtual machine with Studio 5000 Logix Emulate version 36, Studio 5000 version 36, and RSLinx Classic Professional.

Thank y'all in advance, I am attaching the link to the exercise and an image of the message.

Ignition SCADA connect with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 simulation without using any PLCs hardware EP1

Paul thanks for coming to the forum for help!

Can we start by answering a few questions that will help me, and others assist you further?

  1. What type of device are you emulating? (ControlLogix of some sort just good info to know)
  2. How is your VM networked? (NAT or Bridged)
  3. Do you have a firewall on your VM?
  4. Can you provide a screenshot of the Config > Device Connections page as well as the configuration for the machine you are attempting to connect to?

Have you followed the instructions in this comment and following comments?

(FTLinx is required along with RSLinx Classic. Both.)

Also, fwiw, the video is unavailable to me.

In youtube the name of the video is: Ignition SCADA connect with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 simulation without using any PLCs hardware EP1

And the link is: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lyaBI69zMU&t=2499s)

I have FTLinx and RSLinx Classic proffesional.

Thanks.

That video shows connecting via OPC DA. Don't do that. Follow my linked instructions, and use Ignition's native Logix v21+ driver.

Ok my communication is working now.

Thanks.
