Options for Test-Licenses for testing module integration?

Hi all,

I am about to finish my first modules for Ignition and am currently softening the edges with the integration of the licensing system.

Unfortunately this is the only part I am not able to test with my trial version of Ignition.

Is there an option for module developers to get a test license for the offline and online activation?
I'm happy if it has signifficant restrictions like only 10 tags or whatever ... also willing to pay a few bucks, but getting a fully licensed version would exceed my budget quit a bit and be quite a waste.

Chris

Have you asked to join the integrator program? Integrators get a fully-functional developer license.

Does this still exist? There is no mention of it on the website.

Yes, this still exists.
From the integrator portal:

Only available to Certified or better members of the Integrator program.

Not just “join” the integrator program.

You literally need one person to complete their Core certification. That is all.
If you are developing for Ignition, its pretty much the minimum to prove you actually have an idea of how the software is used and what features exist out of the box.

Hehe,

Guess that's the one thing I pregnancy quotient have done, as I don't develop any ignition stuff, just pluggins for ignition.

Is that certification something you can do for free?

If you're part of the integrators program, there's a certain amount of free core tests per certified user for your company.

If not, you can buy an attempt at the core test, or a spot on one of the classes.

I got my developer license recently after getting certified. :+1:

I think it's one free core per 5 Gold or something.

Also I don't think you can get certified just by doing a training course, any more.

I got certified through the Core online course mid-late last year, so thats a super recent change if it has.
I'm also pretty sure the free tests are a bit more available than that, I think it depends on the integrator's status

Yes, you're right, it's the gold test that's a 1:5

Maybe it's different for Gold, my Gold expired in Jan this year and was told the exam was the only route to re-certify

once you get registered as an accredited integrator you get one free core test. and that's how i got core certified.

Thanks for the hints.

I've started the registration ... let's see how that works.
It always felt a bit odd to do that as I am not planing on Integrating Ignition anywhere. I think I'm probably one of the "odd guys" ... using Ignition only to build plugins for it without ever really using it

humm. i actually have my own business. and i think they asked for company registration documents to activate an integrator account. but still. you can buy the core test and get certified. otherwise i was using the endless trial with 2 hours reset. it was ok. but after working on some serious development. it get's annoying.

The unlimited two hour trials has worked for me 99.9% of the time.

Historian development and 3rd party module license development (the original subject of this thread) are the only two use cases I’ve come up with where the two hour trial doesn’t cut it.

I’m also currently working on a 3rd party module, thus my interest in this subject.

Yeah ... my problem is, that that worked fine for the general module testing. Now I need to test and battle-prove the registration process. My drivers require a second license being distributed via the Ignition license properties. I can't test that in trial mode.

So in order to test this sort of thing I need a real license (or a real fake one  )
