Hi guys,
I am trying to design an Ignition system which will scale across several sites. I will address these Sites here as Site A-Z. The idea is the sites will each have an RTU vacuuming up all the tags via DNP3 which I want it to push it back to Office with DNP3 via VPN.
The current design just has each site RTU pushing DNP3 data via VPN back to Office, in which we will have a redundant pair of Ignition central Gateways for SCADA as DNP3 slaves, receiving this data via internet.
I wanted to ask as more sites become online, and we might have to go for Site E for example, does having gateways at the sites become sensible as the load for the office central Ignition gateway may be too much (it will also be running the SCADA) ?
Each site will have about 9k or so tags, so by Site E, total would be 45k tags, and we intend to scale further from there, up to maybe 10 sites, so about 90k tags.
We also intend to use Ignition's Historian capabilility for this project. How should we spec the storage, is there a guideline?
I would really appreciate some help! Thank you!
