Trying to create a view via perceptive module and i keep getting this error.

This shouldn’t be an issue past 8.0.0 - try upgrading to 8.0.1.

Open the
Inductive Automation\Ignition\data\projects\Reference\com.inductiveautomation.perspective\views
directory for the Gateway in question.
Do you see any directories for any of the Views you’ve attempted to make? If you open any of these directories, what files do you see within?
And are all of those listed Views causing the same issue? If these Views are all brand-new, delete them from the File system and try again. I feel like we had a similar problem a long time ago and while we could defend against the problematic files (originally, they would lock-up the Designer), we couldn’t repair the problematic files which already existed.
Hmm…All of a sudden I’m getting this issue as well. I’m on 8.0.1 RC2. I can still view all of my views in the browser, but can’t open them for editing anymore.
Nevermind, I renamed the project and the designer wasn’t happy. Restarting fixed that
Nevertheless, Project name collision could be an issue here on Windows.
@itorres, is there any chance you’ve renamed the project recently (even if the only difference is casing)? I can’t quite read your project name in the screenshots. Is the project’s file system directory name a case-sensitive match to the name displayed in the Designer?
@cmallonee i have started new projects so it shouldn’t have any naming issues? i will try to another new project and try there again
You might need to contact support, as I’m not able to replicate the issue, and no one else (we almost had one) is encountering the issue.
The final last-gasp request I have is to examine the Designer logs. On Windows, the default location is
C:\users\<your_profile>\.ignition\clientlauncher-data\designerlauncher.log
If you could send me that log file through a DM I would appreciate it.

Unfortunately, that didn’t provide me any additional information. Sorry, but it looks like you will need to contact support to advance further i troubleshooting this issue.
I’ve contacted support and i have also told my main support person from inductive automation. She told me to escalate as well.

the solution was quite simple but very strange tho.
- make sure the Java SE Development Kit is up to date. currently posting this, the version is at 12.0.1
- once downloaded and installed my perspective view kicked in

Hi,
I seem to be struggling with same issue. Installing the Java SE Development Kit 12.0.2 at the moment did not fix it.
Issue was on 8.0.3 Stable and now the 8.0.4 Nightly. Occurred on 2 separate servers.
Any suggestions?

There’s absolutely no way installing the JDK affected anything. Ignition 8 does not use your system’s embedded JRE.
The underlying behavior is caused by an issue loading the embedded web browser, which comes from the JxBrowser library created by TeamDev. It’s essentially the Chromium browser engine, but embedded in a Java application. We have a few sporadic reports of users failing to load the browser engine for various reasons, and TeamDev just came out with a new version (7.0) that changed their API in significant ways. We’re actively working on updating the designer to use that new version, which will hopefully resolve these issues - or, if it doesn’t, at least get us on the same page as Teamdev for troubleshooting further.
For now, there’s not a lot we can do about it. There are a few other forum threads documenting command line flags you can add to try to get the browser frame to load, but these are not recommended for any production environment - they may break things entirely, or cause significant performance issues.
This is not a production environment, so I’m not worried about some performance hits.
Could you please point me in the right direction? I need to knock a quick prototype project together.
