Hello everyone,
I am experiencing an issue where the Perspective menu disappears from the Ignition 8.3.x Designer after switching between Ignition 8.1.x and 8.3.x environments on the same Windows PC.
I would like to know whether this is a known issue related to Designer Launcher compatibility, local cache, or JxBrowser.
Environment:
-
OS: Windows
-
Ignition Gateway versions: 8.1.x and 8.3.x
-
Both environments have the Perspective module installed.
-
Both Gateway environments are accessed from the same engineering PC using Designer Launcher.
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Connect to the Ignition 8.3.x Gateway and launch Designer.
-
Confirm that the Perspective menu and Perspective resources are displayed normally.
-
Close Designer.
-
Connect to the Ignition 8.1.x Gateway and launch Designer.
-
Open a project and perform Perspective view editing.
-
Close the 8.1.x Designer.
-
Reconnect to the Ignition 8.3.x Gateway and launch Designer.
Observed Behavior:
After switching back to the 8.3.x environment, the Perspective menu is no longer visible in Designer.
The Perspective menu was available before accessing the 8.1.x environment, but disappears after switching between the two versions.
Expected Behavior:
The Perspective menu should remain available in each Designer environment regardless of whether another Ignition version was previously used on the same PC.
Questions:
-
Is this a known issue when using Ignition 8.1.x and 8.3.x Designer environments on the same Windows PC?
-
Could this behavior be related to shared local cache, Designer Launcher settings, or JxBrowser?
-
Is there a recommended way to isolate the Designer environments for different Ignition versions?
-
Is there a permanent solution to prevent this issue without repeatedly clearing the local Designer cache?
Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
