Perspective Property Editor Not Showing Component Properties for Break, Column, and Flex Containers

The Problem:
I'm encountering a problem with my Perspective Property Editor where it won't update to show the properties of the component or container I click on. It will continue to display whatever was last there. And when I click on it, the Property Editor goes blank. I can fix this by moving the Property Editor (as in click on the title bar and drag it). This seems to force the Property Editor to redraw itself and work as you would expect. Until, of course, I click on another component. Then the same thing happens: it continues to show the properties of the previously-selected component until I move the window.

Here are the conditions that lead to this bug:

  • Working in Perspective (the Vision Property Editor works as expected)
  • Working in a Break, Column, or Flex Container (Coordinate, Split, and Tab Containers work fine)
  • Property Editor is floating (works mostly fine* when docked)
    • *When Property Editor is docked, there’s a noticeable delay to update it, but again only with the Break, Column, or Flex Containers

What’s more is that if I’m working in a Break, Column, or Flex Container (that causes the bug) and then switch over to a Coordinate, Split, or Tab Container (which usually doesn’t), the issue will persist. As in, the Property Editor will show the previously-selected component’s properties. And sometimes, it will show part of the previously-selected component's properties and part of the selected component's properties. When I move the Property Editor to fix the bug it functions as expected (as long as I stay in the Coordinate, Split, or Tab Container).

The Console shows no errors when this happens.

Have you tried hovering over the View option on the toolbar, then Clicking Reset Panels?

I have best luck when the container I want to edit is “deep selected”.
In your first screen print, you’ve selected “CylindricalTank” but “root” is deep selected.
In your second screen print, you’ve selected “coord view” but “break view/root” is deep selected.

In the Project Browser; right-click and pick “Deep Select” from the popup menu to get the properties you need to work with.
