Hi All,
I am new to Ignition and virtual machines (VMware).
I have a scenario where I am trying to launch a perspective workstation on a virtual machine.
The project is on the host machine Ignition Gateway.
I can't see the host gateway on the virtual machine though.
I imagine it is a simple config thing that I am not aware of.
How do I get that connection setup correctly?
Regards,
Gareth
How is your host machine obtaining its IP? DHCP or static? You can set it up a number of ways, but depends on the flexibility you have of setting the host and VM IPs.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
DHCP.

I can use NAT or bridged or host I think. The gateway I want appears in the "Add Application" and starts "checking" but disappears after a while.
I try manually but the "host unreachable" error shows.

Gareth
You can use bridged, and statically set the VM IP to be in the same subnet as the DCHP assigned host. If your VM and host are windows based, check that you can ping the host. You can install telnet on your VM and also determine if port 8088 is open between the two (should be). If that passes, then you should be able to assign a connection to the host gateway.
You will most likely need to allow incoming connections on your ignition gateway server to TCP port 8088
Thank you both, I will try these steps and reply again if I get it to work.
appreciate this.
