Is it possible to query the internal SQLtags database directly?

No, it’s not possible to directly query anything stored in the internal database. What is your ultimate goal though? We’ve had several requests for a way to modify tag configurations on the fly, is that what you’re looking for?

Indeed, I’d like to change Alarm priorities based on some external factors.

I figure I could do it pretty easily if I move all the SQLtags to a external database driven provider, but I wanted to avoid that for now if I could.

Right. Unfortunately, for now an external provider is the only way, HOWEVER, this is something that is requested with regular frequency, and it just so happens that we’re reworking alerting a bit for 7.3. I suspect that some sort of editability will work its way into that version.
