Question about reference tags and gateway resource consumption

Hello,

I have a question about gatawey resource consumption when using a large number of reference tags. The question is whether creating additional reference tags will not negatively affect gateway performance? Reference tags are useful for putting data on screens when they come from different sources which helps a lot, but doesn't it decrease performance?

In the simplest terms, such tags inside the software could be pointers to memory where the correct tags are stored and handled, but whether it actually works that way would have to be confirmed by someone more familiar with Ignition.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Overhead of reference tags is minimal. The cognitive overload from the indirection and ballooned tag count is probably worse, but if this is working for you then go ahead.
