Renaming at the component level is grayed out; is this on purpose?
No, this was an oversight caused by other changes. For now, you can rename through the meta props, but rename via the menu will be back in a future build.

Is this also related to the root container not showing the configure event/scripts options if I right click from the menu? (still works if I click the root then right click in the designer)
No, that’s a separate issue that we’re also tracking; I’ll have to look up the bug ticket.
