Re-Certification for Full Gold Test

I am hoping that the "Re-Certification" is not the full Gold Test in that link again.

I believe it will be. There's not a short refresher certification that I'm aware of. I think you have to take the entire gold test again.

That would be unfortunate - Especially for bigger integrators - Imagine you have 5 Engineers gold certified, and it takes a week to complete. That is 5 weeks every three years of loss production.

The full test takes time.

The only thing Aveva does well is their recert - They already know you can do the work so the recert test is just multi question test on the new things in the software.

But each year you're 3 years wiser. I'll have to see what it looks like when the new test comes out but I could probably cut my time on it in half or less now compared to when I originally took the gold cert on 8.0.

Will taking one of the advanced in-person or virtual courses still be a path for gold certification or will IA be moving away from that to only the actual gold test?

Good question, I spawned a new thread for this. The Practice Gold test is an example of the type of test that one takes to recertify yes. It will take a good amount of time, anywhere from 12-40 hours is not unreasonable depending on Ignition experience.

recert test [could be] just multi question test on the new things in the software.

We used to do something more like this, but we have adjusted how recertifications are delivered to now be equally as impactful as the original certification. This is not to say we don't trust the users who have been certified before, but 3 years is a long time and most people are not exclusively using Ignition. I was in support before training, I have worked with people who were "Gold Certified" and did not have the knowledge with Ignition to back up that certificate.

Certificates are designed around a set of learning objectives, for example the Core test Topics Covered. For each certification or re-certification we are checking the same knowledge checks for that level. The new system is setup to accommodate continuous updates, so new features and questions will be added when appropriate.

This is also a good question and is something we've thought about as new classes will eventually release. Currently the answer is: the advanced classes w/ labwork completion can yield a Gold cert.
