Read timed out when using system.alarm.queryJournal

Been having issues lately when trying to query the alarm journal.

When running this is the script console , it takes a while and causes my designer to disconnect from the gateway.

The code I’m using in the script console

The query is just taking too long. Go make sure the journal's tables have appropriate indices.

So it seems that the alarm database was 11 GB’s which caused a read timeout.After clearing the DB this resolved the issue

The size of the DB by itself won’t create timeouts if the DB tables have proper indexing. I wouldn’t have thrown away history like that. You never know when you might need it.

Talk to your DB admins about indexing.

The db is on our test and development gateway so the data is not critical.When you say proper indexing,what do you mean by that? When ignition creates the alarm tables in the database is it not correctly setup already? Is there extra configuration that needs to be done to the db or the tables?

Not that I recall, no. At least index the main journal by t_stamp, and the details file by uuid.
