Are we allowed the read from the [System] tag provider? No matter the tag I choose to bind to, the result always appears to be null / not found.
You're in Perspective. Perspective sessions don't have access to the client context (we decided on this nomenclature a while ago and we're sticking to it, even if it its somewhat overloaded).
You can get access to properties like what's in the [System]/Client folder in the session properties:

You cannot get the user agent (mobile phone, web browser, Workstation session) MAC address in Perspective. Full stop.
