I have a customer considering replacing GE Plant Applications MES and iFix HMIs with Ignition and Sepasoft MES modules. To evaluate the option, we would like to test with an existing simulation we have. The simulation uses a script to write tags in a Proficy Historian via API calls. So the tags are not read from an OPC server.
To avoid having to rewrite the simulation, we would like to read the tags directly from the Proficy Historian via OPC. I know that Proficy Historian has an OPC HDA server but I’m not sure that would work for real time tags in ignition. Would I have to use a third party driver like the Matrikon Proficy OPC Server?
I have connected ignition to an IGS OPC server before but there is no IGS server in this case.
