I was curious about how Ignition Gateway Names the gateway. Is there a way to set the Gateway name of your choice or rename the Gateway without breaking the system bindings?
No, you'll have to re-establish them. The gateway name on a fresh install is constructed from the machine's network host name. It then becomes part of a gateway backup.
I see. Since this name represent the gateway in a gateway network, an option to name your gateway should be provided during commissioning.
You can name it right after commissioning before setting up the GAN.

I've just posted that to the ideas forum:

You can also, right now, set the gateway name before starting up with an init.properties
