Could you guys recommend a rfid reader, preferably USB hid that you use for use badge login in Perspective? We run bunch of raspberry pi kiosks in production and i would like to explore that possibility. I got myself a cheap chineese reader that seems to have no configuration options and gets me weird value. We store our rfid badges in hex and the reader sends decimal. Converting from decimal to hex didnt work.
I have plans to design a custom PCB similar to this that would plug in to the GPIOs on the PI adding RFID/NFC functionality, unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to it.
I have ordered a couple of the Chinese ones from amazon, and you have to get the right output configuration, for example 8H would be 8-digit hex output.
Good suggestion. Mine looks the same but local vendors dont offer them in other variants, just hid or serial. I also found other options that allow configuration but those are 10x the price or more.
I just found a comment on amazon saying that you can actually change the output format of the reader you shared.
Oh, interesting. I'll have to look at that, as I have one that isn't the right format.
