Roles & Permissions Errors based on Security Levels

I am having a number of issues around Roles & Permissions after upgrading my gateway from 8.1.36 to 8.3.beta.

First off, for the first time ever Im seeing roles in the platform/security/settings that I don’t have defined in my security zones - namely “Administrator”. Because of this error none of my tokens work for API calls even when following this post and the API documentation. Also, I cannot change the platform/security/levelseither to correct any of this. Manual removing/adding roles either errors or reverts when I leave the page and come back to it. Import/Export also fails to make any changes to my security levels.

I can only think to reinstall - which will be a painful experience.

You really should be testing betas in a separate systems. So, no pain for your production and regular development systems.

It is separate of course. Just all the GW settings I have as well as the tags I am using to test the new historian and all will need to be reconfigured :frowning:

So you should be able to take a fresh gateway backup from a v8.1 dev system and restore into your v8.3 beta system. Document all of your security level problems at that point and open a ticket. I don’t know how much of what you are experiencing is deliberate or a bug, but support will be able to tell you (and us).
